Don’t Skip The Rules!

The world of Skip Hire has taken on a whole new life of its own over the last few years, with massive interest from both the business and private sectors. Waste Management and Health and Safety issues have never before been so tied up in government red tape, new regulations and interference from the European markets.

While the skip industry still suffers from the old image, there have been some radical changes, and efficiency ratios have vastly improved. There are very few areas of the country where you will not come across a skip, either on someone’s front lawn, on a building site or on business premises. There is also a vast array of additional equipment which is now essential to cover new health and safety guidelines, including Skip locks, Skip lights, Skip nets, Safety Clothing and Skip ramps to name but a few.

As the industry continues to grow, some of the larger firms are looking at a Commercial Mortgage as a way to finance their skip acquisitions. This allows them to gear up there operations, at a time when many of the so called “cowboy” firms of the past are struggling.

Many people are blaming the ever tighter regulations on the US style “blame” culture, whereby anyone having an accident, in or around a skip, is now entitled to sue the owner of the skip. There have been a great deal of ever more bizarre claims up held in the courts, with compensation packages of ridiculous amounts.

Waste management regulations have also hit the industry, with the need and money saving actions of recycling coming ever more to the fore. Screen Trommel’s are very popular as an efficient way of recycling as much waste from skips as possible. The Trommel’s are large rotating cylinders which can sort different sizes of waste material in a few moments. This then allows the different types of waste to be recycled where possible, or disposed of in an efficient manner.
